The number of deaths from coronavirus in Italy fell for the second day in a row, but the country is still certain that strict controls will continue.
The Civil Protection Agency said 756 people died on the last day, bringing the total to 10779, more than a third of the global virus deaths.
The death toll is 133 fewer than last Saturday's 889, a record high of 919 on Friday.
The total number of confirmed cases on Sunday rose to 97689 from 92472 previously, the lowest daily increase since Wednesday.
But while Italian officials are hopeful that the downward trend will continue, restrictions on all but basic activities, due to expire on Friday, appear to be officially expanding soon.
"The measures that were due to expire on April 3 will inevitably be extended," Francesco Boccia, the regional affairs minister, told sky tg24.
He said the timing would be decided by Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and the government based on data from the medical and scientific communities.
