The first charter plane carrying 206 Japanese citizens evacuated from Wuhan arrived in Japan on Wednesday, with four passengers suffering from fever or cough. Wuhan is the center of this SARS epidemic.
According to the Ministry of health, labor and welfare, Japan has confirmed seven cases of infection, including a Japanese tourist bus driver who was infected after contact with Chinese tourists, the first human to human case in Japan.
"I'm extremely worried about being trapped there and the epidemic is changing very fast," Takeo Aoyama, a Nippon Steel Sumitomo employee, told reporters at the airport. He just pulled out of Wuhan.
"Now that I've been sent back so fast by charter, I'm finally relieved," said Aoyama, wearing a mask.
The new coronavirus is believed to have spread from an illegal game market in Wuhan, where the death toll has risen rapidly to 132 on Wednesday and nearly 1500 new cases.
