Tokyo Kuroda, President of the Bank of Japan, said on Tuesday that he believes China's economy could grow at around 6% in the next few years, partly due to the impact of government stimulus measures.
But he also said China's economic growth could slow to below 6% in the long run as the working age population began to decline.
"The effect of China's policy measures will take a long time to show. But China's economy is likely to grow at around 6% for the time being, "Kuroda told Japan's parliament.
Mr Kuroda also said he did not believe that China's excessive debt would trigger a crisis leading to financial chaos as banks were making progress in reducing non-performing loans.
