Private exporters on Friday announced the sale of 132000 tons of U.S. soybeans to China, the latest in a series of recent soybean purchases, as the two countries are in talks to end a trade war that has lasted more than a year.
The delivery time of the order is before August 31, so far, China's soybean procurement commitment to the United States for the whole sales year has reached 6.322 million tons. The United States has exported 1.64 million tons of U.S. soybeans to China since September 1, the sales year, according to the U.S. Department of agriculture.
Two years ago, before the outbreak of the trade war between the two countries, China ordered 16 million tons of us soybeans, and 8.51 million tons were shipped by the end of October.
Negotiators from the United States and China have been working hard to finalize the text of the first stage trade agreement for president Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The U.S. has asked China to provide a timetable for purchasing U.S. agricultural products, and the struggle over the issue has clouded trade negotiations.
