According to William Taylor, the top U.S. diplomat in Ukraine, who testified on Tuesday that U.S. President trump attached conditions to U.S. security assistance to Ukraine and asked Ukraine to publicly announce that it would conduct the politically motivated investigation he requested.
Taylor gave closed testimony to three house committees that led Trump's impeachment investigation. Taylor is a professional diplomat who has served in the military. The Washington Post published a public statement by Taylor on the Internet.
Taylor's appearance marks another key progress in Trump's impeachment investigation into the political drama, and poses a threat to trump, who is still seeking re-election.
The testimony contradicts Trump's claim that there is no exchange of terms - related to $391 million in security aid approved by Congress. The aid seized by trump is intended to help crack down on Russian backed separatists in eastern Ukraine.
"This is the most conclusive testimony." Democratic Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz told reporters.
