Two U.S. officials told Reuters that the U.S. had conducted clandestine cyber operations against Iran after the attack on Saudi oil facilities on September 14.
The two officials, who asked for anonymity, said the network operation was carried out in late September and aimed at Tehran's ability to carry out "propaganda activities".
One of the officials said the attack affected physical hardware, but did not provide more details.
This cyber attack appears to be more limited than previous similar operations. Iran's Revolutionary Guard is accused of attacking oil tankers in the Persian Gulf in May, after hitting a U.S. drone in June.
The Pentagon declined to comment on the latest cyber attacks.
After that in late September, it was unclear whether the US had launched other cyber attacks on Iran.
