Kashkari echoes Fed Chairman Powell's view earlier this week that policymakers may want to consider short-term yield curve control.
"It is necessary to analyse the potential of yield curve control as another policy tool," Cashkari said in an event of the Council on Foreign Relations.
He said the Fed might not want to target 10-year bond yields as the Bank of Japan did. "Even if we try to control the yield on shorter-term Treasuries, which may be another tool in the Fed's toolbox," Cashkary said, "it's complex, not risk-free, but I think it's interesting and worth studying."
