BEIJING, Sept. 29 (Xinhua). According to the Japan Broadcasting Association (NHK), the Japanese unmanned spacecraft Kounotori 8 successfully docked with the International Space Station (ISS) in the early morning of September 29, and successfully transported supplies to astronauts for eight consecutive times.
According to reports, on September 25, "White Stork" 8 was launched from the Seed Island Space Center in Kagoshima County and flew to the International Space Station, which orbited about 400 kilometers above the surface. Astronauts from the International Space Station successfully docked with Stork 8 by manipulating their robotic arms around 3 a.m. Japanese time on the 29th.
White Stork 8, 10 meters long and 4.4 meters in diameter, carries about 5.3 tons of supplies, including drinking water and food for astronauts at the International Space Station, as well as batteries and satellites for power supply.
It is reported that the White Stork crew has successfully transported materials to the International Space Station eight times since it began operation 10 years ago.
