U.S. President Trump said Wednesday that he had agreed to postpone tariffs on $250 billion of Chinese goods from Oct. 1 to Oct. 15 "in a gesture of friendship".
Trump said the delay was "in response to the request of Liu He, Vice Premier of the State Council, and taking into account the approaching 70th anniversary of China's National Day."
The tariff rate on these goods will be raised from 25% to 30%.
