An official from the Trump administration said Wednesday that senior representatives of the United States and China are arranging to resume negotiations next week in an attempt to resolve a year-long trade war between the world's two largest economies.
"These negotiations will continue in earnest in the next week," White House National Economic Commission Director Kudrow told reporters at a briefing.
An official from the U.S. Trade Representative's Office later said that the two sides were arranging a telephone communication with the official in charge next week.
The United States led the negotiations by trade representative Lethizer and Treasury Secretary Nuchin. China's chief negotiator is Vice Premier Liu He.
U.S. President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to resume the stalled economic and trade talks in May this year when they met in Japan last week. Subsequently, officials from both sides had already communicated by telephone.
