TrendForce, a market research institute, reported Tuesday that global political and economic risks continued to rise, global demand for smart phones showed a weaker trend than previously expected, with annual output declines expected to increase by two percentage points to 7% in 2019; the deadlock in Sino-US trade negotiations affected Huawei's exports, and Samsung (005930.KS) of South Korea would benefit directly and be expected to take the lead. Apple (AAPL.O) and Huawei will enter the ranking saw.
TrendForce originally predicted the ranking of global smart phone production in 2019. The top six rankings were Samsung, Huawei, Apple, OPPO, Millet (1810.HK) and Vivo. However, due to the impasse in Sino-US trade negotiations and the slowdown in demand, Samsung still ranks first in smart phones this year, while Apple and Huawei will enter the ranking sawing.
The report expects to produce fewer than 1.4 billion smart phones this year. In terms of total annual production, as Huawei's mobile phone shipments are threatened by the ban, its main overseas sales markets used to be Europe and South America, and its competitor Samsung is also deeply involved in these regional markets, which are expected to be the direct beneficiaries. Therefore, TrendForce updates Samsung's production this year. When the water level reaches 300 million or more, there is an opportunity to increase the water level by more than 5%.
