Huawei, a Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer, is a victim of U.S. bullying policies and is working with Google (GOOGL.O) to address trade restrictions imposed by the U.S. government last week, an executive said Tuesday.
The U.S. government said the restrictions were imposed because Huawei was involved in activities that violated national security or foreign policy interests.
On Monday, the U.S. government temporarily eased restrictions on Huawei to minimize interference with customers. Huawei's founder ignored the move, saying his technology company was ready for action in the United States.
Google, owned by Alphabet (GOOGL.O), has suspended some of its business cooperation with Huawei and stopped doing software and hardware transfers and technology services beyond the scope of open source licences, Reuters reported on Sunday.
"They [Google] have no motive to stop us. We are working closely with Google to find ways for Huawei to cope with the current situation and the impact of the U.S. Department of Commerce decision," Liu Kang, Huawei's representative to the European Union, told Reuters.
He also said that Huawei had not blamed Google for its decision, and it was too early to say what the consequences would be.
"Huawei has become a victim of bullying by the U.S. government. It's not just an attack on Huawei, it's an attack on liberalism and rule-based order, "Liu added.
