Japan's Meteorological Agency said an earthquake occurred off the southern coast of Japan on Friday with a preliminary magnitude of 6.3, but no tsunami warning was issued after the earthquake, and no damage was reported for the time being.
The quake occurred on Thursday at 2348 GMT, with an epicenter off Miyazaki County and a focal depth of 20 kilometers, the Meteorological Agency said.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported a magnitude of 6.4.
