Huawei Technologies, the world's largest telecommunications equipment maker, reported its first quarterly results Monday, with sales jumping 39% to 179.7 billion yuan ($26.81 billion) in the first quarter.
Huawei said its first quarter net profit margin was about 8%, up slightly from a year earlier. However, the company did not disclose the actual net profit figures.
At a time when U.S. authorities are stepping up efforts to crack down on Huawei, they say the company's equipment could be used for intelligence penetration, and call on U.S. allies to ban the provision of a new generation of 5G mobile network construction contract to Huawei.
Huawei said last week that despite pressure from the United States, the company's acquisition of 5G telecommunications equipment contracts continued to grow further.
Huawei said that by the end of March, it had signed 40 5G commercial contracts with leading global operators, more than 70,000 5G base stations had been sent around the world, and 100,000 5G base stations were expected to be sent to the world by May.
Guo Ping, Huawei's rotating chairman, said earlier that he expected all three businesses -- consumer, operator and enterprise -- to record two hundred-point growth this year.
