The BBC and Sky News reported Wednesday that British Prime Minister Theresa May would ask for a short delay in withdrawing from Europe in a letter to the European Union on Wednesday.
It has been nearly three years since Britain withdrew from the EU by referendum. The delayed withdrawal process is full of uncertainties. Possible options include withdrawal under Teresa May's agreement, longer delays, disruptive withdrawal, and even a referendum.
With only nine days to go before the date set by Teresa May two years ago, she will write to Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, requesting an extension.
But it remains unclear how long the delay will last, and London's politics are in turmoil. The BBC reports that Teresa May will not ask for a long delay. A spokesman for Downing Street Prime Minister's residence did not immediately comment.
Teresa May's withdrawal agreement with the European Union last November has been vetoed twice by Parliament, but she hopes to hold a third vote, possibly as early as next week.
