But the Bank of England may also be able to make a sharp contrast with the Federal Reserve by reminding investors that if Britain can avoid the sudden non-trading shocks in the EU and still intends to raise interest rates.
A Reuters survey of economists shows that the Bank of England's interest rate decision makers are expected to vote unanimously to maintain its benchmark lending rate of 0.75% as the transition agreement remains unsolved.
"The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) is clearly in a'wait-and-see'mode," said Howard Archer, an economist at EY Item Club, a forecasting firm. Prime Minister Teresa May is pushing EU leaders to make concessions in key parts of their divorce last year, maintaining the prospect of a no-deal exit from Europe on March 29.
Further afield, the Federal Reserve has said its three-year interest rate hike is over, the European Central Bank has acknowledged the slowdown in the euro zone, and China wants to push for the lowest growth rate in 2018.
These developments will also put pressure on the Bank of England's prospects, but it would be a big surprise if Bank President Mark Carney and his colleagues changed their intention to resume interest rate hikes after Britain negotiated its withdrawal from Europe.
A hiking vote?
Investors don't believe that the situation will lead to a rate hike by the Bank of England, which is only 50% likely this year.
They will focus on the Bank of England's signal at 1200 GMT, as well as new economic growth and inflation forecasts and interest rate decisions.
In November, the Bank of England said it expected inflation to remain slightly higher than its 2% target in the next two years, suggesting that investors believe they have underestimated the rate hikes in the period.
The company also said it expects the UK economy to grow at an annual rate of 1.7% in 2019, 2020 and 2021, which is likely to decrease because of signs of a global slowdown after that.
