Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, said Germany needed to ensure that Huawei would not provide data to the Chinese government before it could participate in building a fifth-generation network to connect vehicles to factories at a faster pace.
Handelsblatt Daily quoted government sources as saying that the meeting will focus on the security directory drafted by the Federal Network Regulatory Agency (BNetzA) and the Network Security Regulatory Agency (BSI), and whether the authentication rules and the spy-free agreement with China are sufficient for 5G security.
Huawei, the leader of the global online market with annual sales of more than $100 billion (77 billion), faces international scrutiny of relations with the Chinese government and doubts that Beijing may use Huawei's technology for espionage, which the company denies.
A State Department official said Tuesday that Washington sees the European Union as the top priority of global efforts to persuade allies not to buy Huawei devices for the next generation of mobile networks because of espionage.
Last week, the German Ministerial Conference attended by the ministers of cabinet, economy, finance and transportation will be held after the first high-level meeting held last week.
At the meeting attended by three major network operators in Germany, market leader Deutsche Telecom put forward a series of technical and compliance measures to ensure security.
These include the establishment of an independent laboratory under BSI supervision and careful inspection of all equipment used in critical infrastructure prior to field deployment.
