The Canadian Globe Post reported Monday that the United States has informed the Canadian government of its plans to push forward a formal request for the extradition of Meng Wanzhou, China's chief financial officer, for violating U.S. sanctions against Iran.
But according to the Globe Post, David MacNaughton, Canada's ambassador to the United States, did not say in an interview when a formal extradition request would be made. The deadline for application is January 30.
Huawei said it would not comment on the current legal process and did not contact officials of the U.S. Department of Justice for comment.
