The newspaper quoted a diplomatic source familiar with the talks as saying that the talks, led by U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo and senior North Korean official Kim Yingzhe, could take place on Thursday or Friday. The source was not named.
Reported that the two sides are expected to finalize the date and place of the second summit between US President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, and Trump may meet Kim Ying-jee.
South Korea's Yonhap also quoted an unnamed diplomat as saying that Pompeo and Kim might meet this week.
A CNN reporter quoted an unnamed source on Twitter as saying that the North Korean delegation may visit the United States "as soon as this week", but the plan has not yet been finalized.
The CNN reporter quoted the source as saying that a letter from Trump to Kim Jong-un was forwarded by a special person over the weekend.
The U.S. Embassy in Seoul did not immediately comment on the report.
The White House did not immediately comment. When asked about the report, a State Department official said, "We have no meeting schedule to announce."
If confirmed, this week's meeting could mean that the two sides are approaching a compromise after months of stalemate over how to move ahead with ending North Korea's nuclear and missile programs.
