The White House said Thursday that if the DPRK released three detained Americans, it would be the North Korean President Trump and the North Korean leader, Kim Jeong-eun, to express their goodwill before they met, but they could not confirm the reports that the people would be released.
Before the unprecedented summit of the US and DPRK in the next few weeks, the prospect of the release of three detained Americans will soon be heating up.
Trump's chief lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, told Fawkes news channel that Pyongyang will release these people as early as Thursday as early as Thursday.
It is not clear whether Giuliani is directly aware of the relevant consultations.
CNN (CNN) quoted unnamed news sources on Thursday as saying these people would soon be released, and two months ago, when the North Korean Foreign Affairs visited Sweden, they laid the foundation for the matter.
"We can't confirm the authenticity of the reports that they are going to be released, but if North Korea releases the three Americans before President Trump and Kim Jeong-eun talks, we will certainly see it as a sign of goodwill," White House spokesman Saunders told reporters.
