U.S. government officials are preparing for the unprecedented meeting of President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jeong-eun, but the details of the meeting, including the time and place of the meeting, and the negotiation strategy, remain unresolved.

The summit will be the first meeting between the incumbent president of the United States and North Korean leaders in history. Before the Korean President Wen Ying Yin will meet with Kim Jeong-eun on Friday. Trump has said his meeting with Kim Jeong-eun may be set at the end of May or June, but he warned that the summit could be cancelled if it felt that the talks were not the result of what he wanted.
Kim Jeong-eun announced on Saturday that it would stop nuclear tests and intercontinental ballistic missile launch tests, abandon nuclear test sites, concentrate their efforts to develop the economy and improve people's living standards. This has improved the prospect of the summit. South Korean and US officials said Kim Jeong-eun said he was willing to discuss the issue of denuclearization, but did not mention giving up the existing nuclear weapons in his speech on Saturday.
Trump and other leaders of the world welcomed Kim Jeong-eun's speeches, but some also expressed doubts about North Korea's intentions. Trump said Sunday that the DPRK nuclear crisis is still a long way from settling.
"Things may be solved, maybe not - only time will tell," Trump said on twitter.
The Trump administration has said it wants North Korea to achieve "complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization", but has little to say about the strategic details that will be used in the talks.
