President Trump said on Thursday that he thought the conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping had had an impact on American beef exports to China, and American exporters are now selling "many" beef to China.
According to the US Department of agriculture, American beef exports to China account for only a small part of the US beef export market.
China lifted the 14 - year ban on American beef imports about 10 months ago, but compared with Japan, Mexico and South Korea, the number of Chinese buying was a little witch.
This year, US beef sales to China account for less than 1% of US beef exports. According to the latest data from the US Department of agriculture, about 1100 tons of beef were shipped to China in the United States from April 5th to April 5th, while another 274 tons were sold but not yet shipped.
