Us commerce secretary, Wilbur Ross, on Thursday, highly praised the benefits of US trade with Latin America and said the United States would not give its leadership in Latin America to a "dictatorship".
Before the summit of the Americas will be held in Lima on Friday, Ross said in a business event that Latin America's exports to China were mostly raw materials and agricultural products, while American imports from Latin America played a role in creating jobs.
Ross told reporters after his speech to reporters that the agreement on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was "reasonable", but Ross did not give an estimate of when to reach an agreement.
"Then you will know," Ross said.
