"Because the Democrats don't care and do not, the DACA plan has died, and now everyone wants to rub the DACA hot spot," the Republican president wrote on tweet.
A number of senior government officials told reporters that a bill was being drawn up to speed up the expulsion of illegal immigrants. They did not give a specific timetable for the bill to be submitted to Congress, and did not disclose whether they included provisions for helping DACA related personnel.
Democrats believe that the plan to protect thousands of immigrants, or "dreamers", is in danger of being exempted from expulsion and obtaining work permits, and Trump should be responsible for it.
Dick Durbin, a Senate Democratic two, said in a telephone interview that "the president provided six different bipartisan options and then was rejected by him... I felt our consultative partners were not reliable," and the negotiations were in a state of stagnation.
"Congress must immediately pass border legislation and use the Nuclear Option, if necessary, to prevent a large inflow of drugs and people... Congress, act immediately, our country is suffering from theft!" Trump said in another push.
Congress is unable to pass any legislation immediately, because it is now in the second week of the spring recess. But taking a tough stance on immigration can please Trump's conservative supporters.
Trump also reiterated his call for Mexico to prevent entry of personnel into the United States. He said on Sunday that if Mexico did not take more actions to protect the US Mexico border, he would terminate an important trade agreement with the country.
