Asahi News reported on Thursday that Japan has expressed its wish to the North Korean government to hold bilateral summits, and the Pyongyang authorities have discussed internally the possibility of meeting with leaders of Japan and other countries.
The report quoted the unnamed North Korean sources and briefed documents, pointing out that the Kim Jeong-eun administration has discussed with the DPRK Labor Party leadership the possibility of holding a summit with Japan, Russia and other countries.
"The Japanese government has expressed the willingness to hold a meeting of leaders through the general joint meeting of the Koreans in Japan," the Asahi News quoted the briefing document. The agency is actually the Korean Embassy in Japan.
A newspaper article from Seoul mentioned that the Kim Jeong-eun administration has discussed the possibility of holding a summit with Korea, the United States, China, Japan and Russia.
