The EU executive committee will propose a tax regulation on digital technology companies on Wednesday, which will impact Google's parent company Alphabet (GOOGL.O) and Facebook (FB.O) and other American technology giants.
The draft that Reuters saw last week shows that the European Commission is expected to offer a tax of 3% of revenue for companies with higher revenue in European digital business.
If supported by the European Union Member States and the European Parliament, this regulation will apply to large enterprises with annual revenues of over 750 million euros ($919 million), and taxable revenue in the European Union, which is higher than 50 million euros. But whether the European Parliament is able to support the above rules is far from certain.
The tax is a short-term EU measure, which may also include other well-known American companies such as Airbnb, AMZN.O and go.
