US Commerce Secretary Rose said on Wednesday that U.S. trade authorities are investigating the need to take action against China's infringement on intellectual property rights, saying the "Made in China 2025" strategic plan is "a direct threat."
Taking action on intellectual property will open up a new battlefield for the U.S. global trade war.
On Tuesday, the U.S. government imposed a high tariff on washing machines and solar panels as part of U.S. President Trump's efforts to protect Americans' employment. China and South Korea condemn this practice.
Rose ruled out worries about the "war" in the trade and said that the U.S. government is only seeking a level playing field and is still open to trade negotiations with the EU.
